Well, it's been a good week.  School started up this week, which is great for our youth ministry.  It's so funny how school stops so kids just stop coming to church, and as soon as school is back in session they come back in droves.  But this Wednesday was that "coming back" Wednesday.  It was fun, too!  We had an old car that we smashed up for Speed-the-Light.  It's always nice to get to destroy something for a good cause!!  We had our first Bible Club meeting at the high school yesterday.  Man, we have some great kids leading it this year!  I was really impressed by how organized and together they had everything.  I'm kind of pumped about that.  Our first home football game is tonight.  We usually lose, but it's always cool to go and hang out at.  Hopefully it won't rain too much.  Tropical Storm/Depression/Hurricane (whatever it's called now) is coming through the area this evening, so it is supposed to rain a lot.  But hey rain never killed anybody!  Well, that's pretty much been my week.  Oh before I forget.  Last week we had our Pool Tour, which briefly is just a week of fun in the pool every night.  Anyways, one of my young adults through me in the pool Friday night, which wasn't a big deal, except I had my cell phone in my pocket still.  So basically, I lost my whole phone book to water damage.  The reason I share that is I need everybody's phone numbers again.  So if you can, give me a call this next week so I have your number.  That is if you want me to have your number! : )  Have a great week everybody and for you CBC students - good luck this semester, I'll see you in November!!

Hey Everybody!  Sorry I didn't update last week, I was in Maryland with my family.  A little unknown fact, I used to live in Maryland, just outside Baltimore in Edgewood.  Well, back to the trip - It was awesome!  We visited my adopted Aunt Polly and Uncle Bill.  They're not really family, but they babysat me and my sister when we used to live there.  But even to this day they're still like family to us.  I got to have one of my favorite foods, Maryland Crabs cooked in Old Bay Seasoning-mhmmm!  They were delicious!  I also was able to go see Ripken Field, a minor league baseball field built and owned my favorite baseball player, Cal Ripken, Jr.  This week our church teamed up with another local church and did a boys basketball camp.  I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a ton of fun!  It fealt really cool teaching these young guys the ins and outs of basketball.  I almost felt like Coach Hanson...well, maybe not.  Anyways, I really enjoyed it and it got me thinking about maybe coaching like a middle school boys basketball team someday or something.  Who knows?  Anyways, that's been my last couple weeks, busy but exciting!  I hope you all are having a great week as well!

Me and Uncle Bill getting ready to eat some crabs!!

That's what crab shells look like after you're done with them!

Beautiful Ripken Stadium, home of the Aberdeen IronBirds!

So I just got back from my insane marathon trip.  It 2700 miles in 5 days!  What a trip!   But on the bright side, I got to see Springfield and a bunch of my Springfield buddies!  What the trip was for, was one of my young adults feels called into ministry, so we went on this college visit trip.  We left Sunday night and drove out to Springfield to visit none other than CBC!  Than Wednesday we left and drove up to Minneapolis to visit NorthCentral, and then last night we left and here I am!  So that's pretty much my update for now.  I'm exhausted and going to go take a nap.  Peace out to all my hommies! (Yeah, I know it's dumb but I haven't really had a good night sleep in like two days!)

Well, it has been an awful long time!!  Sorry everybody, I've just been on myspace more.  I apologize if I've disappointed you : )  So things have been going well.  I'm actually going out to my favorite place next week-Springfield, MO!  One of my young adults wants to check out CBC, so I volunteered to take him-how nice of me, huh?  Anyways, so Josh Horton has been interning with us this summer and this Sunday is his last day here.  It's kind of sad.  He's really done a great job!  I guess that's how internships work, though, you do have to leave when they're done.  Last Sunday we had 57:7 (Paul Po Ching and the boys).  They were amazing!  I was really impressed with how well they did and how together everything was.  Great job guys!!  This weekend we are helping with Relay for Life down at the high school stadium and then Sunday night, we leave for Springfield.  Yes, we're driving straight through the night, so please keep me in prayer Sunday night - especially around 3-4am, because that's when I get the most tired! : )  Well, that's about it for now.  I'll try to be better about updating every week.  Drop me a line to let me know someone's reading, though!  Have a great day everybody!!

"Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.   In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD.  But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,  but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast."
Genesis 4:2b-5
(This is what I preached on Wednesday night-great passage!)

Well, it's that time again! Today, I find myself in Fort Myers, FL. Yes, I'm livin' it up on the beach! Well, not right now, but in a little bit I will be. (I'm here for a wedding) So it's been a good couple weeks. We have an intern for the summer, Josh Horton who came in last week. This is whole having an intern is a new deal for me, but I think it's going to be pretty cool. So the youth group is going pretty well. Our attendance is surprisingly holding steady, but I figured it will probably start to drop off here soon because of the summer. In a couple weeks we are revamping our small groups. We're going to be offering small groups on Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night. I'm a little frightened by this whole thing. I just hope the students grasp the importance of small groups and jump on board.

I was thinking back over the last few years, and I realized that I have been in at least one wedding every year for the last 7 years! Isn't that crazy? That's what I thought. It's hard to believe I've been in that many weddings. I guess that's part of going to CBC! I think I'm going to start a business on the side: Professional Groomsman. I figured I might as well use my wealth of experience and wisdom in this area to my advantage! So if any of you need a groomsman for your wedding, you can reach me at 1 (800) 4-GRMSMAN. Well, I better go because it's almost time to head off to the beach! Have a great day everybody and as Mike Alvarez loves to say, "Tell everyone I said hello!"
